DVR-108 and CloneDVD

I just bought the DVR-108. Talk about slow.... I flashed it with the latest firmware update available here, and it's much faster now! Thank you!!, but it's not as fast as I hoped it would be. Anyone backing up DVDs using CloneDVD and AnyDVD with the DVR-108?

Also, I am using Ritek 4X and chose 12X for the write speed. Seems to work ok, no coasters yet, but the writing appears to stop at times. Wondering if I might get better results at 8X? Anyone have any experience with that?

As to software, any comparisons with different applications? Which one do you like best for backing up DVDs and why?

Thanks

Yes, I was using it for awhile with the programs that you mentioned but it was too slow for my taste so I sold it and went back to my 712A. For some reason, the 108 was not as consistant as my 712A and 4120B.

Here are some recent burns based on a 4.36GB disc using CloneDVD 2.4.5.4 on Fuji 8x DVD+R (YUDEN000T02) media:

6:10 – Plextor PX-712A (FW 1.05)
6:30 – Pioneer DVR-108 (FW 1.14)
6:47 – LG GSA-4120B (FW A111)

Thanks for the post. I'll have to time mine to see how far off I am from what you are getting. You are just quoting burn time right? How about rip times?

Yes, those are burn times but rip times with AnyDVD are usually around 17 minutes or less!
