Hello!

I can nothing say to this writer, but Liteon DVD-Rewriters have in the most cases not good writing quality.

I recommend the LG 4120, NEC 3500 or Pionner DVR 108. These drives are the best drives with fair prices.

In regarding to write quality, do you means the dvd or cd got written by LiteOn are very bad that cannot be read on some dvd/cd players?

I don't think that scour would be caught dead with a LiteOn anything.

If you go by the results of the CARS scans in the c't tests, as posted in the sticky in this forum, LiteOn does abysmally. These tests are usually done with early firmware versions, and newer firmware does improve things somewhat. Other manufacturers do better though, because of technologies such as WOPC that adjust the burning strategy on the fly (BenQ / Philips or NEC) or (notably LG) because they have a more conservative approach to burning speed and produce generally good burns, albeit at a lower speed. This means, for example, limiting some 16x media to 4x- but it generally works.

That being said, I have a LiteOn SOHW-1213S presently flashed with 1233S firmware (BS0H). It's a usable 8x burner with 8x media- It does well with most of the media I've tried (a limited variety of generally good quality media) as long as you don't overdo the burning speed. By "well", I mean more than "good" KProbe scans- videos work with all players I've tried and data discs can be read at full speed even with picky drives.

Here's what has worked for me:
Code: Select all
DVD+R, 4x:  CMC MAGF01 (4x, Tevion)
            MCC002 (4x, Verbatim, Intenso)
            RICOHJPNR01 (4x, Fuji)

DVD+R, 8x:  MCC003 (8x, Verbatim)
            RICOHJPNR02 (8x, Platinum)

DVD-R, 4x:  ProdiscS03 (4x, Fuji)

and what has not worked (at that speed):

Code: Select all
DVD+R, 4x:  OPTODISCOR4 (4x, MMore)

DVD+R, 8x:  RICOHJPNR01 (4x, Fuji)

DVD+R, 12x: MCC003 (8x, Verbatim)
            RICOHJPNR02 (8x, Platinum)
            YUDEN000 T02 (8x, That's)

The drive has burned all CD's I've tried well (since flashing to 1633S).
