Any hope for my huge supply of tdk 4x +r to get a speed bump? I flashed today but haven't burned anything yet.

Slightly more off topic... there's no hope of my +rw 2.4x (memorex) media writing at 4x is there? (sigh)

burticus,

Let us know what your TDK 4x + burns at in the BenQ with the newest firmware and also post the media code.

I've done some of the TDK 4x plus media, mid R01, and they now do 8x with excellent quality, as good or better then my NEC 3500 :) It also does better quality burns with the Fuji ty02 plus media that's 8x at 16 then it did before this update. My drive is a original 1600 august build drive converted to 1620.
I still need to do some minus media and some of the odd ball crap minus I have to see if it does it OK now. The testing function now seems very good even at 8x and apears to be more consistant then my 811 that sometimes doesn't give the same results twice
Well off to waste more media in the name of science

Who makes "mid R01"? I'm not familiar with that media code. I've heard of RICOHJPNR01, but supposedly the DW1620 will only do that at 4x unless that's changed now.

It's the ricoh you mentioned, I just end up shortening it up becuase it so common I guess. Yup it does 8x now with excellent results , before it was 4x.

I would be posting scans right now... but one of my home computers decided to die on me... and wouldn't you know it, it's the one with all the important Data on it. Not to mention my e-mail setups.

ROCK ON! Just did a movie at 8x on the TDK 4x +r media. Plays perfect in my regular sony dvd player.

This one is a keeper, people! And as cheap as this media is getting, no need to spend extra on 8x...

BENQ is tha shiznit!

Next up.... 4x on a 2.4 +rw! Hold your breath...

DOH. No dice on the +rw. Nero won't see it as faster than 2.4, and clonedvd took 31 mins to do a 90 minute movie which is right at 2.4x. Oh well, can't win them all.

At least the 2.4 memorex +rw was cheap.... it sure isn't fast.

the only RW media I've ever seen overclocked was on the Pioneer DVR-107 (I'm betting that the 108 can do it too). I don't think any other drive types ever pulled it off. And DVD+RWs never worked right for overclocking.

Does anyone tried Princo 4x DVD-R with this new firmware? I would like to know how the drive handle this media with the new firmware, as Princo are widely used here in Portugal.
