Cyberdrives in general tend to be Philips based drives which do very well with + media.

Thanks for the answer.

So you think that Cyberdrive rebadges Philips-drives or Cyberdrive uses Philips-parts und build the writer by their own?

Nice. I thought Cyberdrive/Cyberhome was pretty much dead. Has anyone seen this drive in stores yet?

Yes, you can see them here.
It's a decent drive.

Yeah, I'm not sure Cyberdrive marketing and sales are anymore than a concept...

Yeah, I'm not sure if who's running things here in the US either. Whoever they are, they were smart enough to put our logo on the box. Too bad we haven't had one of their drives in here for 2+ years.

Yup. It's too bad to cause the DX162D is a pretty decent effort.

Best Buy where I live has them on the shelf. They are not on the website.

It was pretty small. I always look at drive boxes when I'm at Best Buy to see who's using our logo.. usually without permission.

I picked up a Cyberhome DX162D today at Best Buy as a replacement for my LiteOn 851S. The salesman there told me it was based on the NEC drive and that is what sold me on the drive. Did he lie to me? :^o

Yes, he did. Never trust a blue shirt. They are evil.

I went back to BB to ask him why he lied and couldn't say anything. I assume these guys don't work on commissions so why did he lie? Anyway, going to keep the drive and put it through it's paces. For $50 AR it's not a bad deal if it will burn CMC and Princo media well. My Liteon 851 can't say that.

He probably didn't lie.. he just didn't know any better. Most of those guys don't know a DVD+R disc from DVD-R. I still remember one of them telling me that black CD-R discs sound better.

As far as the DX162D goes.. the little I've heard about the drive seems to be good. For $50 I might have to pick one up and run some tests.
