I really hope that cdfreaks has changed by 180° since I left there, because otherwise this document is an euphemism...

After reading the interesting posts at CD Freaks that are referenced earlier in this form, one fact that emerged just baffles the hell out of me.

There was a debate by some of the posters about whether you have a right to modify "YOUR OWN" registry on "YOUR OWN" computer.

Anybody who argues that you do not have a right to do whatever you want to "YOUR OWN" registry on "YOUR OWN" computer needs to have their head examined. What the hell is this world coming to when people argue that I cannot even change the coding of software that exists on my computer.

Once a legitimately purchased program has been installed on my computer, I can alter it and its registry entries in any way that I want as long as I do not then repackage this program as my own idea and try to distribute it or sell it or use the program to do something like hack other people's computers. More specifically, as long as it is on my computer for my own use, I can do anything I want with the software. ( END OF STORY ) If software has some annoying banner add built into it or internet call back to the company to look for updates or bug me with ads, and I am smart enough to code around that and disable the function, then I will definitely do that.
