Will the real cheap brands of DVD-R work on my RCA & Toshiba DVD player???

I left my mind reading hat at home today so you're going to have to provide some more info if you want me to help you...

a) which "cheap" media are you talking about? Which brand? Manufacturer?

b) which DVD player? Do you know which model?

also, what burner are you using, and what firmware?

Verbatim DVD-R/RW, DVD shrink software, Sony DVD+RW DVD-R56A

Verbatim DVD-Rs are OK for compatibility, the Tosh DVD players tend to be very good for playing cheap media (and if the RCA players are anything like the Ferguson/Thomson ones we get here -- RCA is owned by Thomson -- they're good for compatibility as well). Your weak link may well be that Sony though.
