Hi,
As I understand NEC3500 is supposed to be sold in retail. I know about all the online places BUT where would I find it? BestBuy, Circuit City, CompUsa, MicroCenter, Frys or which other retail establishment? I am interested in going and looking at it and maybe buy it. Like I said no online. Any idea which store will carry it?
Thanks much.

to my knowledge the nec3500 isn't sold in retail stores in america
it kinda is you can say though, in that its a rebadged drive, meaning other companies put there name on the box and use there slightly modified firmware for the drive

No, it won't hit brick and mortar stores until 1Q 2005. Until then you have to order it from PC Connection, CDW, Tiger Direct, and PC Mall

I'm not aware of the retail version getting to the big boxes yet. Whoever sees it first, please post back.
mm: Is there some perceived advantage in the retail version over the OEM available online?

Yeah, and you can buy the OEM version at Newegg with software and extend its warranty a year. That's what I did. I didn't need the software but for $4 more, I was able to give it to my mom along with my NEC 2500A.

Dell Home has the NEC ND-3500A Beige in stock for $91.95. There are a lot of 15%-off coupons floating around the shopping sites, which would bring this down to $78.00.
I just noticed the original poster said no online. Perhaps this belongs in the Hot Deals Forum--sorry.
