Anyone know of a DL DVD burner that has a SATA interface?

Until the SATA controllers start supporting ATAPI drives properly, don't look for a lot of SATA optical drives. Biggest issue right now seems to be getting them to boot to CD. (Ever tried installing Windows without a CD?) But there are other issues as well, not to mention the fact they they don't run any better or faster than PATA drives.

Given the short and checkered history of the Plextor 716, I'd wait a while on getting a SATA drive, but that's just my HO.

the reason i asked is that i recently built myself a new PC, and i guess i realized a little too late that the motherboard (ECS 915P-A) only has 1 IDE port, which i use for the hard drives. on the other hand, it has 4 SATA ports, and i want to take advantage of them.

i won't need it to boot from the drive (as i have two other optical drives that are connected via and IDE to PCI bridge....yes, i know, it's ugly).

when you say "supporting ATAPI drives properly", what do you mean?

Put some RocketHead SATA converters on your hard drives and enjoy. they are cheap and easy, work great.
