The problem was actually the hard drive. I later found out that it was failing. Which reminds me.. I still need to RMA it. #-o

The review should be done soon. Let's just say NEC and Pioneer have nothing to worry about.

I recieved this drive as a Christmas present. I currently use a Power MAC G4 500mhz. I use this drive in a firewire case and connected with a firewire port on my machine. Here is the issue I am having. I can burn DVDs, but they will not read in my Mac's DVD ROM. I also cannot RIP using Mac the Ripper from this Drive. I keep getting a IR read error. I can not take the drive back since it is after 30 days. I am waiting patiently so to speak to hear from MicroAdvantage support. my guess is they are going to reply that the drive is not compatible with MAC.

Does anyone have any ideas?

First thing they will tell you to do is update your firmware.

I updated the firmware and still not resolved. I did recieve an email from Microadvantage, but they said the same thing. and of course they do not support MAC.
