Not yet. For now just faster -RW and +RW speeds.
I think I'm going to give up doing reviews and just do previews.

Previews? Brrr, better make reviews like you do all the time.
Cdrinfo will bring complete reviews of the Plextor 716 and NEC 3500 in near future.
Better make only reviews and don´t waste time for previews

Very happy with my 3520, although i have not tried much media in it it writes Fuji 03 and prodisc f01 with no problems. it isnt as good at writing ricoh 4x DVD+rw though, they show higher errors than when burnt on my 2510 although not enough to get worried about.

I'm in the process of buying a new drive and i'm wondering, is it a good idea to buy a 3520 instead of a 3500?
I know that the 3500 is a lot more mature, but when the 3520 matures is it likely to be better drive? (because of better hardware or whatever other reason?)

As I already did reply @ "3530" specs...
I did buy me a 3520 today and indeed DVD+Double Layer 4x,
and DVD-Double Layer 4x...
(I wish I had 8xDL DVD+) I'm a plus fan.

Well, actually it's not too late yet, for me (i think), since the online shop i'm going to buy from still has the 3500. (I'm from Sweden btw)
Should I buy the older more mature 3500 or go for the 3520 because it might become a better than the 3500 with more mature firmware?

I think I'm going to have to beat you up, I know where you live,
That is, if you were actually serious, which of course you weren't.

If I were serious, I'd also have to start copying peoples news articles and use them in my reviews.

To add further mystery to your quandry, should you forego both drives and wait for the 3530 for that matter?
As far as I can tell, waiting won't afford you many benefits based on the specs listed for the newer models (which are really just incremental upgrades...granted the latest model does double quite a few of the writing speeds compared to the 3500A). I got a 3500 in the last few weeks and have very few regrets...it's my first DVD-RW so being on the bleeding edge isn't the most important.

more info about 3520:
NEC introduced end of december 2004 its 2nd generation of 16x DVD Writer. ND-3520, the successor model of the successful ND-3500, offers next to 16x DVD-R/DVD+R recording as well 6x for - RW and 8x for + RW. In addition to + 4x Double Layer functionality, ND-3520 will also support - 4x Double Layer, as soon as the DVD Forum will have released final specification (scheduled for march 2005 tbc).
-DVD-R (DL approx march 2005)
more info about advised media and speeds mostly higher speed than factory standards:

In Europe the 3520 is now widely available in the shops...
