Dual Layer drives don't support Mt. Rainer?

I've been looking around at Dual Layer drives and it seems none of them support Mt. Rainer. Not that it's a big deal at this point, but it's supposed to be supported in Longhorn next year right?

i think the Plextor drives support Mt. Rainier. for CDs at least, and partially for DVDs.

yep. Plextor 708A, 712A, 712SA support Mt. Rainier.

According to the review I read, the Plexy 716 does not.

I have a PX716A enroute and used this link for info: http://www.cdrinfo.com/Sections/Reviews ... 0&PageId=0

Suppose future firmware will enable; waiting for Ian's test.

Happy New Year !

What is the big deal about Mt. Rainier support? It is more or less useless, especially in light of Nero's awesome InCD...

...which is the cause of 90% of my system crashes/reboots. My computer without InCD gets rebooted about once every 2 months. My computer with InCD gets rebooted about once every 2 days. But then again, since no OS has integrated MRW support, you need to use programs like InCD in order to use MRW. But as soon as the first OS support for MRW comes, I'm going to abandon InCD (assuming that the OS is any bit more stable  )

Is MRW dead?

I think the lack of OS support has pretty much killed it.

As far as InCD goes.. it's far from perfect. I like using it for CD-RW's, but the performance with rewritable DVD's is far from stellar.
