LightScribe Drives Shipping, Media?

HP, the creator of LightScribe, is now shipping desktops with 16X DVD burners with LightScribe labeling technology.

Unfortunately, neither HP or anybody else seems to have LightScribe media. Apparently, there is a proprietary coating on the label side and a software encode such only LightScribe media can have the label side burned to create the gray scale image. A Google shows Verbatim will someday offer the media.

A check of the FAQ on http://www.lightscribe.com will provide more details.

Has anyone seen LightScribe media? #-o

Burn the disc, use the laser. Flip the disc over to burn a monochromatic label, use the laser. Looks like a nice technology to line someone's pocket with higher priced media and drives that burn out sooner.
