Don't know how I missed this one. Just discovered it last night. This is an awsome little program. It lets you split dual layer discs into 2 single layer discs. This allows you to "back up" your movies without any compresion. In many ways this makes it superior to dvd shrink. I tested it last night and it works like a dream.....plus its freeware. Check out the link below for a users guide and download links. :D

Looks like the one you mentioned may have some naming issues with this software: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-fab.htm

The DVDFab from DVDIdle.com is the only one I had ever heard of before your post. I've used it before and like it too.

I read that the one from dvdidle.com was just a collection of freeware tools put together into a retail package......

DVDFab is actually both of those programs you and aviationwiz mention

back in the day dvdfab used to be freeware, there still is that version floating on the net

but in comparison on what it can do the retail one you can buy does so much more

i know it was one of the few programs i actually bought

Whith the old free version, you cannot choose where the movie is cut in two... (With the commercial version, it's possible :) )

If that is the only real advantage of the pay version then it isn't worth the trouble....
