Dark rings on the bottom of my DVD+R after writing

Of course I know that when you burn the color of the bottom of the disc changes slightly but there are like several rings that appear to "fade out" and can't be read by another PC DVD reader I have. Was I burning too fast? What does this mean?

different rings on mine usually mean changes in burn speed, like when it moves out of 6x into 8x, then 12x and again finally at 16x

LG 4160B, Verbatim 8x DVD+R. I think I burnt it at 12x because my drive will write that media at that speed.

I experienced a similar situation with my Plextor 708A. I was told that it had something to do with the change in burn speed too.

I had one time where I burned a disc with my LG4163B and it had dark dark and then light circles.... and when I popped it into my BenQ DW1620 it showed up as still being blank. Then I accidentaly burned the disc AGAIN with the BenQ DW1620. After that, the disc was TOTALLY screwed up. Good thing it was just some of my random testing I like to do, and nothing important :P

I wish I remembered what media that was I was testing though... I think it was one of my crappy chinese discs. I have FAR too much crappy chinese media it seems :o

So this is a speed issue? or a media issue?

Try burning again but at a slower speed. Media quality can differ down to the batch the dye was made. I have seen the different color circles on CDs I've burned. Let us know if slowing it down worked. Try 8x and then 4x and try multiple readers/dvd players.

not sure if I mentioned it up there but it did play fine on my philips 642 DVD player, no problems. I have been burning at 4x since without any more rings, I think I might kick it up to 8x and see what happens. Thanx.
