Benq 1620 at Newegg -- Read before you buy!!!

First the good news....newegg has the benq 1620 (retail & extra black bezel) back in stock for $70.99 w/ free shipping and $10 MIR through benq. Total cost $60.99 ........

Now the bad news.....according to the rebate an actual sales recipt is required. Packing slips or order conformation are NOT accepted. As this is all newegg provides, if you buy this drive from newegg your MIR will be rejected!!!

Now the good news....I called newegg and pointed out the blunder and they took the $10 off the price of the drive. So, total cost delivered is still $60.99. If you order one before they take the rebate link off their site you should also be able to get the $10 off. Best price I've seen for the retail w/extra bezel. =P~

Nice heads up! Hopefully someone looking for this drive was able to take advantage of the "instant rebate".

Newegg loves to change prices (both up and down) frequently on hot items; it might even be computerized based on demand.

An instructor of mine mentioned how supermarkets used software to price items based on sales.
He noticed that after he bought a higher than usual quantity of an item (obviously not something they sell much of) its price had gone up the next time he went back to the same store.

Newegg were all out of 1620's at one point but I since found out that the NU DDW163 drive is the same drive rebadged so I bought that instead (cost me $61 shipped) and flashed to the B7T9 firmware and now the drive is recognized as a DW1620

Are they really changing the price that often? I see what dodecahedron sees:

$72.99-$10=$62.99

I wish I had waited a couple of weeks to buy mine, but when I purchased newegg didn't have them listed at all (as opposed to listing them but marking them as "out of stock"), so I didn't know they would ever sell them.

Edit to add: Oh, now I see what hoxlund is saying. He is including the $3.50 shipping. Good call, hoxlund.

I recommended the Rosewill RD-162 (oem BenQ 1620) retail package to a friend when the BenQ was out of stock.
Cheaper ( $54.99 ) and you get a retail package!

One small detail though: The Rosewill burner is not a BenQ, it's an AOpen DUW1608 ;)

Nah! The 3520 with current FW and 109 are very good burners as well as the BQ. I would like that Plex 216, but at double the price of a NEC/BQ, why would anyone do that. [-X
