Maxell DVD+R9 media

I just got my first samples of Maxell's 2.4x DVD+R9 media in today, and it turns out they are using Verbatim's media code (MKM001). LOL, I guess my Maxell rep was telling the truth when he told me it would be at least as good as Verbatim!

It remains to be seen who is manufacturing the media for them, but the current speculation is CMC with the appropriate royalties paid to Verbatim of course. I'll be comparing serial numbers later when I have more brain power. I'm currently running on just short of 3 hours of sleep, after battleing with a corrupted HDD trying to salvage my review data for the LG 4163B (if anyone is wondering why it isn't up yet...). Luckily, I think I was successful.

That is funny (I am referring to the last part of your first paragraph)!
Congrats on 3500 dolphinius!

I haven't heard of MKM001 being made anywhere but at MCC's Singapore plant...

I'm pretty sure CMC is making them now as well, but I haven't seen any personally.

As for the Maxell's, the serial numbers match with the Verbatim DVD+R9 media I have from Singapore, so I think they are one and the same.

Now, if I can just get the Maxell DVD+R9 media CHEAPER then the Verbatim's I'll be very happy! :D

hey Dolphin, any thoughts on CMC's media DL +R media. I see memoryexpress.com offering it. Any thoughts on the quality and such considering how CMC was mentioned earlier in this post.

Unfortunately, I have yet to be able to aquire any of these discs... but as it happens, I noticed Memory Express's inventory of them earlier today when I was speaking with one of their owners ( :D ), but I haven't ordered any yet. I just found out today that my order from Taiwan was "backorderd" ... so I'll be making other arrangements, probably with Memory Express for the time being. That'll be AFTER my vacation however, which begin Thursday (more :D 's).

Ian however, may have an opinion on them, I think he may have gotten a couple of those discs, but I could be mistaken.

MID code CMC MAG type D01 is approved by Philips. First results suggest there ok. However support from drive manufacturers is slow.
So they are a option only if your drive supports them at this point.

I don't know if there cheap and the package is small, because if that is true then it might be worth to try out.
