Specs

Asus Nforce 2 A7N8X
Corsair 1 Gig 3200 RAM
AMD 2700
2 Harddrives
MSI 4400

Drive verified as Ultra DMA

Not sure what's going on but it looks like the Plextor is having trouble reading dvd-rs that I've burnt and has worked in the past (burnt on a NEC). It'll spin up and down a couple of times until it finally locks up XP. Also, Plextools sometimes hogs up cpu access for no reason (even at bootups) The only way I can stop it from doing this is reinstalling the software (I have tried both 2.17 and 2.21)

At first, I thought it was the Lite-On DVD-ROM connected as slave that was the source of the problem (and actually is at some points so I'm leaving it off for now) but that didn't help. I tried flashing to 1.06 and then back to 1.04 and back to 1.06 and still I'm having problems. I tried reintsalling WinXP to make sure it wasn't software but nothing has changed with a bare install. I'm out of ideas.

Also, in the picture below should IDE Setup not say master?? I have no jumper on the drive now and it hasn't changed. Nor does it say master if I put it on master.

And since when is Plextor support all email? I don't see a number listed.

if it doesn't say master when you put the juper on master i would say you have a problem
