What is shipping with Dell's these days? It says 16x.

I know they had a rebadged NEC 3500, sold with model number 3450.

Just got a Dell 8400. Device manager says the DVD writer is a NEC 3530...., and thats what it says on the drive.....first time I'd seen that model number.

Wow! I will check mine Sat when I get home. It was delivered on Fri and should be the same as yours. The 3530 should be the newer NEC!
Are you guys flashing these with 3500 etc FW?

If its the real 3530 that is an awesome burner/ spec wise. I have seen several posts on recent FW on this by NEC.

Just got home and mine is a 3530! Any FW links?
