CDRLabs has taken an in depth look at Memorex's new new internal dual-format, double-layer 16x DVD writer. Based on the NEC ND-3520A, it not only looks good, it features some of the fastest DVD reading and writing speeds available. Memorex's new drive is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW and 4x DVD+R DL writing speeds and a maximum DVD read speed of 16x.

In this review we'll take a look at some of the features found on Memorex's new internal DVD writer and see how it compares to some of the 16x DVD±RW drives from the competition. Can it deliver the features and performance we've come to expect from Memorex? You'll have to read the review to find out.

This wasn't mentioned in the review so I'll address it here.

Memorex has started using Lite-On SOHW-1673S's in their internal kits now. Judging by the info on the web, the part # (32023292) seems to be the same for both, so you'll have to look at the picture and specs to determine what's in the box.

To be honest, I'm not sure why the DVD±RW writing speed is listed as 4x on the Lite-On based drive. The SOHW-1673S supports 8x for DVD+RW and 6x for DVD-RW. They got the specs on the new Lite-On based external.
