I'm just curious as to what people here think about the whole MID code issue?

So far, we have MAM-A claiming that they have authorization, but don't need it.

MAM-A wrote:MAM/CSI has never used another companies’ MID without express permission from them to do so

and
MAM-A wrote:there are no “laws” that limit the use of MID codes – anyone can use any code without gaining the “rights”

Now we have comments from Philips on this whole matter, saying that since the MID codes for DVD+R have to be registered, there is deffinately support for legal actions taken against companies stealing/abusing other companies' MID codes

Philips wrote:For DVD+R codes are required to be registered.

The company who is confronted with misuse of his registered MID code is in a number of legislations able to start successfully a legal action.

There are already two cases known to me where actions are taken and the company misusing stopped producing such discs.

Surprisingly enough, we have not yet heard anything official from Taiyo Yuden on this matter :o

So what do people think of all this?
