Seems that they will be available soon, at least in europe.

Announced Specs:
Quote:
• 16x/8x/16x/6x/16x
• DVD+R/DVD+RW/DVD-R/DVD-RW/DVD-ROM
• 5x DVD-RAM
• 6x DVD+/-R Dual Layer
• 40x/32x/40x CD-R/CD-RW/CD-ROM
• 2MB Buffer

I think that the Dual-Layer/Double-Layer burning speed will be at 8x.

Price for the 110: around € 60.

I think those sellers are just being overly optomistic by listing the drives already. If you translate the page, you see:

New product, date of delivery still unknown and depends on the manufacturer

Essentially, preorder them now but we have no idea when they show up.

Pioneer has not officially announced anything. Once they do, you'll probably see the drives in Japan first and then Europe.

That´s the point. Geizhals.at is listing some articles long time before it´s avaible.

But I hope the Pioneer 110 will come soon :)

The first test made by "YSS" the samouraï
of a OEM Pioneer DVR-110D is out:

in "babelfish" english:

This drive was bought on July the 30th at Akiba (Japan)
It's his 83th drive !!!

Hello!

Hm, DVDinfo don´t report that the drive can write DVD-RAM?

Yes that's right

So I don't know how many versions of the Pioneer 110 are going to be on the market, maybe you can answer it reading these links:

But YSS showed at this link here:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/yss/dv-w516e ... 107_01.htm
that TEAC DV-W716E [firmware 1.07]
burns a DVD-RAM (brand Maxell 5x certified)at 5x CLV
(4,27 GB en 11 minutes 17 secondes - average speed: 4,98x)
This fact as already been reported on CDRlabs in this thread:
http://www.cdrlabs.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=19991

I don't know if the drive is related to the TEAC DV-W716E
They look a bit similar from outside, see at this link:
drive Nr 77 and drive Nr 83 bought by YSS:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfis ... 2fdvd7.htm
I think the experts from CDRLabs are going to tell us quickly if it is the case or not

Hello!

Just wonder: When the ddrive is the top was a rebadged Pioneer, why the emergency-eject-hole is on another place?

I think you are right

But according to this news at CDRinfo
the new NEC chipsets inside the Pioneer DVR-110D have the potential of DVD-RAM burning

YSS says here that the Pioneer 110 has these chips:
http://homepage2.nifty.com/yss/dvr110d/sokuhou.htm
In "babelfish" english:
http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfis ... okuhou.htm
Code: Select all
* * * Period limitation release & * *
Pioneer DVR-110D (bulk sale) baseplate scan picture
Pioneer DVR-109 (buffalo sale) baseplate scan picture * for reference comparison

DVR-110D
NEC D63645GM
NEC C3345GC

DVR-109
NEC D63641GM
NEC C3340GC

There is also about to be different, but it has been similar well.
Because also frame structure has been similar, the minor change model っ ぽ it is.

I also noticed Diseree (from Tokyo) in this post:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.php?p ... stcount=11
guessing that the DVR-A10 will support DVD-RAM
and the OEM DVD-109D not

So we have to wait for an official statement from Pioneer ...
or maybe have a close look at the coming tests of YSS

It's for sure not a rebadged Pioneer (I don't know why anyone would believe that?).
According to previously posted info it's a TEAC design with Panasonic chipsets, manufacturing of the drive is possibly outsourced to BenQ.

When the DV-W716E was announced, it was said that it was an original TEAC design. I don't think its a rebadge of Pioneer or anyone else.

As far as the DVR-110 goes.. we have yet to see any official specs from Pioneer. It's possible that the rumors that it will write to DVD-RAM were just that.. rumors.

Going by this info, there are two versions:

DVR-110/110BK - with DVD-RAM write
DVR-110D/110DBK - no DVD-RAM write

DVR-509:

Oddly enough, Pioneer America doesn't have any firmware updates for the drive yet.

Maybe the software package ?

possibly.
but also, accoring to this picture from the link Ian gave:

it certainly looks like a 109, not an A09.
faceplate of the 109. an by inference, it also doesn't have the other features of the A09 (fast ripping speed; quiet utility or something etc.)

so i guess the 509 can be described as a OEM drive in a retail package (if this makes any sense at all! :o )

Yeah, but one of the features listed on Pioneer's website is "Quiet Drive for minimal operating noise"

PostPosted: Thu Aug 04, 2005 2:27 pm
by dodecahedron
 • Quiet Drive for minimal operating noise.
 • Liquid Crystal Control for optimum recording quality; Precision Recording to minimize the effects of long-term deterioration of re-recordable discs due to repeated writing.
 • Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber to reduce vibrations during high-speed recording and playback of discs.

this is listed on the product pages of all 3 drives:DVR-A09XL, DVR-109 and DVR-509. so on the one had this "Quiet Drive" thing doesn't mean the 509 isn't a 109 in a retail packaging.
on the other hand this confuses me even more. i thought there were some features the A09 had that the 109 didn't - like that honeycome-thingie case. is that the Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber mentioned here? (if so then the 109 has it too ???) or is that something else ?

DVR-A09
DVR-109
DVR-509

All three should have the Ultra Dynamic Resonance Absorber thing. The difference between the 109 and A09 is that the A09 has the honeycomb thing and is supported by Pioneer's Quiet Drive utility.
