Alright: who actually makes 'em & how good are they vs. the kick-butt Verbatiums? My burner is a BenQ 1620...which will be supplemented with either a PX-716 or a 1640 soon...

Memorex +R DL = Ritek, generally considered to be crap
Fuji +R DL = Ricoh, not bad but not that great either

Bottom line, stick to your Verbatim MKM +R DL. It's the best quality DL media available.

I would rate Ricoh as only SLIGHTLY better then Ritek in compatability with burners.

But yeah, stick with Verbatims. There is nothing like them anywhere else!! :D

There's also a small amount of Philips discs floating around as well. They're not much better than the Ritek though.

No official word on them at all... I'd say keep your fingers SERIOUSLY crossed, since it's not looking good.

With 3 burning atemp and all failure with Memorex D/L, I have given up with D/L burning for time being unless the prices dropped to reasonable level to justify losing a disc on failure atemp.

I noticed that in the recent review of the BenQ DW1640
a Verbatim of MID code "MKM-003" has been burned as well as several brands of "MKM-001"

These MKM-003 DVD+R DL burns look even better that ths MKM-001 and all the others
so I like to know when and where we will be able to buy these new Verbatim MKM-003
Thanks ...

Well, production of them has begun I believe, but I think that mostly production is still working on MKM001. And yes, MKM003 is unbelievably good quality on the DW1640. You'll never look back once this media comes out.

If we're lucky, we might see it near the end of the year... I'll see if I can get an official answer.
