Hrm, that's funny! It's only been about a month since digitimes reported that CMC and Ritek were being investigated for dumping media in Europe (News Clicky)... which is about how long it would take to ship stock from Europe to North America and get it distributed...and all of a sudden Europe's crap grade Ritek brand Arita is showing up online because "they are overstock on ( Arita ) therefore they sell the Arita here too" (quote: http://www.meritline.com/arita-dvd-r-blank-media.html)

Of course, despite Meritline claiming it is A Grade media, it has been proven a low grade disc time and time again.

FYI: My sources have also confirmed that CMC's low end media will be appearing in North America as well (probably already here). I know one of the brands to expect is Dysan, but there are probably more.

I could never buy anything from a supplier with the following lame ad copy:

"Ritek Arita e-Store @ Meritline.com
Your one-stop shop for Arita DVD R Media and much more...
Ritek is the manufacture, Ridata is the name brand (Ritek) use as USA Brand,
Arita is the Europe name brand from (Ritek) also , Arita is very poplar at Europe
, since they are overstock on ( Arita ) therefore they sell the Arita here too. Arita
brand of DVD is exclusively manufactured by Ritek to the highest standards.
Arita - A Product by Ritek, Right for all your date."

Too cheap to even spend a couple bucks for a native English speaker to write this BS!

I just want to clarify that Arita is not just a crap disc sold in Europe, it's also sold in South America, and parts of Asia.

It just happens that the specific media in North America was originally from Europe (according to reasonable assumption, as well as info from a good source)

Dysan? Dysan's not a CMC brand is it?

Interesting that NA is getting these Arita discs. The ones in Europe have been so bad at times that in a spindle of 25 discs at least 5-10 have actually had areas on the writable side with no dye applied.

A-Grade? lol.

We actually had a case a few months ago where some fake Aritas were appearing on the market, some Ritek, and some obvious fakes which were not even made by Ritek (a few Prodiscs, a few Infosmart). This media was traced back to a small distributor in the UK.

Ironically, the fake media was of higher quality than some of the genuine stuff!!

I dug a little deaper, and it isn't specifically a CMC dumping brand... but in this case they supposedly have been asking for CMC's crap media. Looking at their history they've used really low grade Prodisc as well as really low grade CMC in the past.
