Can NEC 3500 Have Good Quality Scan?.

Sone 16D1 DVD-R (16X, Made In Japan)
Burn Speed 16X
Firmware 2.TG
Note: Burned 4 discs 2 with CD Speed Create Data Disk and 2 burned with DVD Video from Hard Drive, then performed qulity scan on all four discs with BenQ 1640, all 4 discs failed to meet acceptable "Quality Scan". Can some say why?.
These discs are SonY DVD-R MID916D1) rated for speed of16X and made in "Japan.
BTW: I have experiement the same thing with four discs burned with BenQ 1640 and all discs have %96 to %97 quality scan.

It's the PO Failures that are killing the Quality Score. Its kinda funny because aside from them, the scan looks good.

Yes amazing despite 170 PIfailure the disc plays flawless and displays no problem.

Not to invade your thread, but
I have a NEC 3520 and all the SONY08D1's and YUDEN00T02's i burn, whether at the rated 8x or overspeed to 12x, get really bad scans with my BenQ 1640, including some spikes that a scan with the NEC don't pick up.
I'm beginning to think that BenQ's scanning is off somehow.
All the discs play fine too.
Maybe the 1640 don't like discs burned with nec drives??

Here is a disc i burned using Alcohol 120% with the NEC at 12x using firmware 2.U2
The disc is branded Fujifilm Made in Japan
bought from futureshop

May I know where this 2.TG firmware for the NEC 3500 comes from ?
Is it an official firmware from NEC or a from a rebadged or not ?

The 2.TG is modded firmware for NEC 3500 by Liggy & Dee-27 which has
1) Removed RipLocked
2) Region Free
3) Changed Writing Strategy for different media to increase the writng speed or over speed some media over thier rating specs. You can read and download the mod at the following address:

Some very good scans and some not-good scans
My experience with NEC 3500: Burns almost all media, never had problems to play it on DVD-Player or DVD-Rom.
But If good scans are imprortant, don´t burn with the NEC. Almost all of my scans show high PIF-spikes.
