Anyone care to take a legitimate guess?

Right now you can get 15 Memorex 2.4x for $70 at FutureCrap so that's about $4.70 per disc.

$3.50-$4.00 CAD for Ritek, and $5 CAD for Verbatim are going to be a reality very soon.

$1.00 CAD for DVD+RDL is not likely to happen.

They were on clearance at Staples for some reason. A pack of three was $5.50.

Well, I was referring to a consistant price, that didn't require the retailer to sell the product below cost

Apparently, Verbatim is getting rid of the DVD+R DL 3 packs (which is what someone here or somewhere else mentioned) so Staples had them on clearance for $5.50. The 10 packs will be the new packaging arrangement. BUY.COM had them for $29.95 and allowed people to apply 10% coupons on them, making them $2.69 a disc, which is a sweet price. Not the $1.85 a disc for the Staples clearance, but close and its easier to find at BUY.COM than driving around to all the Staples in the area. :)

My Staples had two 10 packs of DVD+R, one 10 pack of DVD-R, and one 10 pack of DVD+R LightScribe. I bought all the non-LightScribe packages for $2.50 each. 25 cents a disc for Verbatim 16x media is kinda nice.

The buy.com packages are of the new 10-pack spindles and not the 3-pack jewel cases. BTW, newegg.com is now carrying the 10-pack spindles as well. And not to be overdone by buy.com, they are offering it from $30 for a pack of 10 and they'll throw in a customer appreciation gift of a pack of Verbatim SL discs. A pretty good deal that I probably would've gone for if it weren't for the fact that I've already stuffed myself silly courtesy of Staples. ;)

Verbatim lists the media as being 2.4x-6x compatible (although officially rated at 2.4x).

As for pricing... that's TOOOOOOOO high. Give it until Thursday and NCIX will blow that away

Maybe because they are sold by SVP somebody will be interested in a bulkpaq branded media ?
What is your opinion ?

Not me at least as I can buy Verbatim DVD+R DL for about €3.2. I would like to try CMC's DL media though but I won't buy it under any of E-net's brands...

I saw btw that one webshop lists Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL media now for about €5, but not in stock yet of course.

I got a friend on the inside of NCIX  But I don't *KNOW* the price ahead of time, I just have a good idea of what to expect.

But I know that there is a 99% chance of this product going on sale this thursday:

wish they had it on this weeks sale with the 5.99 shipping promo. I'm probably making an order tonight for 50 Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's.

I don't know really. My guess would be 10pk for $50-$55 CAD, but that's a guess.

You can blame Verbatim USA for being slow to stock their product then

He was talking Canadian $$$

Also, I really don't recommend buy Memorex DVD+RDL. It's really crappy media. It works on only a small handful of drives, and not very well.

What kind of prices might we expect once these start to make their way onto the shelves?

well, I think most companies will not be participating in a price war with companies who can't make a good product anyways

Although Verbatim is currently duking it out with Ritek on the DVD+RDL market at the moment, I'd like to hope they'll stop before it requires them to make a product on the same level as Ritek, to compete on pricing.

I picked up a pack of those Memorex dual layer discs from Futureshop, 15 for $40 Cdn. Burning took 43 minutes and verifying 32 minutes on my 3500A. While my 2500A and 3500A could read them at most 4.5x, I tried them on my 166S with a no-limits firmware. :)

Is the price FS offering now below manufacturing cost?

Hard to say... probably not anymore.
