What´s that? Never heard before of this drive. It looks like it writes CD-R now @48, but offer no DVD-RAM-support.

Edit: Now I read in the next page that it write CD-R only 40x?

AFAIK, it is a "retail" version of the DVR-110D (the non-DVD-RAM writing version)

c'mon, Pioneer, where is the retail DVR-A10 that can do full DVD-RAM and has the nice bezel? I've had money waiting for it for months... :P

No kidding. Unfortunately, it's not even on Pioneer America's website. :roll:

From what I can gather, the DVR-R100 is Pioneer's way to compete with some of the lower priced drives being put out by Taiwanese manufacturers.

That sucks (on both counts). I have been planning on ordering 3 DVR-A10s as soon as they were available (1 personal machine, 2 at work) but who knows if that's going to happen. (I thought they at least sent a press release out announcing it, or was that not Pioneer US?)

Looks like I may have to settle for an NEC4550 (or whatever the DVD-RAM version is)... although they're fine drives I've always like Pioneer's high end retail units. Or an LG, although since the 4163 they've had too many models that are a bit too scattered in their firmware support (as was mentioned in the new LG review)...

Why can't one company just get it together and make an all-around great unit at a decent price??

Hello!

@Ian

Do you think you can get one of this drives to find out from which manufacturer it is?

The DVR-110D / DVR-R100 is made by Pioneer, but they have a plant in China as well it seems (or a plant working for them in China?). Unfortunately, there appear to be large quality fluctuations between drives made in Japan and drives made in China from Pioneer :o

Yes.

But when it´s only a real Pioneer it´s not so interesting.
