Any BIG improvement in writing Verbatim +RDL since NEC 3500?

I am still using my "old" NEC 3500A with latest firmware 2.1A to burn Verbatim DVD+R DL 2,4x of MID code MKM-001
with rather good quality (not a single freeze in a movie at the layer break in my standalone DVD players)
According to this page:
tp://www.micheldeboer.nl/firmware/3500.html
the 2.1A firmware contains the newest 1.27 writing strategy for DVD+R9
I dont burn anymore any others MID codes like Ricoh and especially
no "Ritek-D01"
I like to know if to your knowledge
there has been a big improvement in the writing quality of these Verbatim DVD+R DL @2,4x
- I am not talking about overspeedeing theese MKM-001 or writing the new MKM-003 -
with the newer burners like for example:
NEC 3520, 3540 and now 4550
Pioneer A09 and 110
Plextor PX-716A
BenQ 1640, Plextor PX-740
- For each of these burners I mean by using the latest available firmware -
with rather good quality (not a single freeze in a movie at the layer break in my standalone DVD players)
