Sony DVD+R MIJ Gone Sour and Unusable

I have had bunch of Sony DVD+R (4X) MID RICHJPN R01 made in Japan in my stock pile for two year, these Sony are in 10 pack of deluxe package, last night I opened one the 10 pack and tried to burn a backup movie, but to my surprised 8 out of 10 went bad and the burned discs were not readable either by my two DVD burner in computer or by my stand alone DVD player. It is amazing how top brand name media when not being used less than two the quality will deteriorate in such, that you can only through them away.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but RicohR01 isn't MIJ, but MIT.
