Quick Scan DVD Advice

I have been archiving all my home movies to DVD for a couple of years and once I create the DVD movie I also archive the original AVI capture.
Next I burn the AVIs to a DVD-R using the UDF format since that seem to be the one that Nero suggested for this size file. I own Nero 6.6 and & 7.0
My question for some of the experts here is, what is a good quick way to scan just to ensure that the disc is readable? I typically play portions of the AVI to test but scanning in Kprobe or Nero takes too long for the number of discs I need to do.
I tried Nero CD/DVD Speed - Disc Scan but it crashes on UDF discs for some reason.
Any help, tips or short cuts would be appreciated. My drives are listed below.
Thanks.
