I want to buy some DVD±RW media for my BenQ DW1640. Any thoughts on which brands would be of better quality for rewritables? Is there an advantage one way or the other in favor of +RW or -RW?

I'm using Acro Circle and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R for the non rewritable stuff and it's been fine.

Excuse me if this is well covered here already. My search didn't turn up anything specific on rewritable media.

generally speaking, Verbatim is consedered excellent rewriteable media, if not the best.

i'm using Sony rewriteable DVD+RW media. MID: SONY S11.
and while it doesn't scan nice on my BenQ DW1620, it works fine.

Yes, most DVD-RWs can read and write to +RW faster than -RW.

Try the Sony 4X +RW media, Made in Japan. Quite nice on my 1640 and 832S.

I have had very good results with Fujifilm +RW, 4X.
Look at the review done here

Give the Ricoh 8x +RW (MID RicohJpn W21) a try. After a few burns, they are doing very nicely for me, burns nice and fast at 8x - a full burn takes only ~8mins.

Click.

Ricoh 8x DVD+RW media is impossible to find in the US. Believe it or not, its probably easier to get Verbatim.

My condolences, they came in here only recently too. Bought a pack box of 5, promptly dropped and cracked one of them... $#% but the rest are burning so nicely that I am going to get some more. It's great to cut burn times from 15 mins using my older 4x W11 to 8 with the new W21...

This is a bit off-topic, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I've been looking for some 6x DVD-RW and 8x DVD+RW media for my Pioneer DVR-110D burner and hoped a forum member could point be in the right direction. I'm using the official 1.39 firmware and would like to stick with that. From a look at the reviews and the Pioneer compatibility charts, my choices appear to be Sony and Ricoh for the 8x DVD+RW media and TDK and Verbatim for the 6x DVD-RW media. I only need five disks of each, so if possible I would prefer a brick-and-mortar rather than an internet store. I'm located in Southern California (Orange County).

Thanks for the help.

hey Bhairav, they are now going at S$17.50 per box of 5 down from S$4 each when they 1st landed. Try Kao Yap at SLS (short for Sim Lim Square for those who are unfamiliar with SG).

Cheers.

If you're lucky, maybe you'll be able to get one or two of those media types in the next couple months. I don't think anyone has TDK or Ricoh high speed DVDRW media. Verbatim might be available, either now, or shortly.

I been on the same hunt as you with no luck so far. I did see some 8x DVD+RW Ritek's on Ebay, but Im not too fond of Ebay sellers. #-o
