Try updating to the newest version 7.054 I think. The Label flash Icon is different then the Light Scribe one also. Maybe I just got lucky, but it worked after I put the dll in that directory. Otherwise you'll have to get a label flash serial or something.
My 6 never worked either, but 7 does ?!

The Version 7 you have working is it Neo7.0.1.4 or Nero7.0.5.4 ?.

What do you think about this announcement
made on Liggy & Dee's BLOG on February the 10th:
http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/blog/

« Binflash has just been updated to version 1.25
Everyone with a 3550, 3551, 4550, 4551, 6750, 6751, 7550 or 7551 drive should NOT flash with one of the previous versions.
There was a severe bug in 1.24 that could lead to broken drives on some hardware configurations »

Go to freaks and check it out, somebody from somewhere pressured him I think.

After reading it all in detail I realise that my previoust post
was a bit out of topic because you are mainly discussing
about crossflashing a NEC drive so you can have LabelFalsh.

But I am still concerned about the fact that the 1.24 version (and previous) of BinFlash
could permanently dammage
a NEC drive among the following list:
3550, 3551, 4550, 4551, 6750, 6751, 7550 or 7551

So even if this dammage could not happen after a crossflashing
il could happen on some hardware configurations after a simple firmware upgrade using Binflash 1.24 or previous

The fact that BinFlash could permanently dammage a NEC drive is something new to me since February the 10th

and after this date Liggy says for example:

Yes, I've seen a number of comments saying that isn't true and that its an excuse to stop distributing that version and prevent cross flashing. Then again, I've also heard about a few people farqing up their drives with it so who knows.

Any time you use a utility like this you run the risk of breaking your drives. It's been like this for years with Lite-On's drives and now with NEC's.

I think Liggy finally admited he was getting pressured from someone (not NEC) to drop anything that enabled crossflashing so he relesed a locked version so crossed drives wouldn't flash :( He doesn't want to get sued and I guess he didn't want to release it after whatever happened but it got out anyways so now it's damage control.
Mine worked fine with 1.24 and I think so has most people that have tried it.

The first burn of the new drive looks promising both in writing and reading.

Yet his NEC Drive Convertor utility is still available... You can see why some people are questioning his comments.

Another burn with NEC 3550@4551 using Staples "Playo" DVD+R on sale this week for $4.99 per count of 50. The MID of the disc is AML 002: Not bad for the DVD disc at 10 cents each.

Damn, that is good. I was thinking of picking some up for my BenQ drive. I wonder how well that would write it.

But that utility doesn't enable LabelFlash on drives that didn't ship with it (even though the hardware is capable).

I assume that NEC is not paying any royalties to the LabelFlash owners on those drives where it is disabled in the firmware. A utility that enables it post-sale could look bad for NEC, like they were shortchanging paying royalties.

Unscrupulous retailers could also purchase the non-LabelFlash drives and use the other tool to flash them with the LabelFlash firmware and sell them as the LabelFlash drives. This could ultimately get NEC sued by LabelFlash owners since all these LabelFlash drives would be available and enabled yet royalties weren't paid on them.

I can understand why NEC would be leery of that tool being out there. It's one thing to have people hacking the firmware to allow media to be written at faster speeds, or to allow bitsetting. NEC and its partners don't lose anything. That wouldn't be the case with a tool that would enable LabelFlash on drives that didn't ship with it enabled.

Maybe these dvd companies will learn from the printer companies. Give away the burner code and sell the proprietary licensed disks. Maybe some day we'll have benq and nec giving us the drives just so we will buy their special disks????

To: the gdog....... BTW I also bought those staples AML +r 8x disks and I burned them at 16x on my benq and got a quality score in the high 90's. They are made in china so I was very suprised at how well they came out. And at double the rated speed even! I saw that even someone with a btc had a great burn so they may be great. They were certainly better than those horrible sony mij 8x +r.

I went to Staples to pick some up, but they were sold out. One of the salespeople said they sold out in about 3 hours.

So no cheap PlayO discs for me. :)

Too bad. Maybe its online. Or another store. My store is in a more residential area and I happened to be out at 10am sun morn and there was just a few of us there. Went back mon eve with a friend and still plenty.

BTW Just tested in my nec 3550 at 8x. Also q=95. Seems excellent. I wonder if the downside is they turn to dust in 1 yr.
Its a communist plot I tell ya! :)

One of the downsides of living in the Bay Area of CA. Deals like that don't last long at all.

I checked online and it says sold out there too.

Hahha, that's a possibility. I probably wouldn't be putting mission-critical data on there. :)

Would be nice though for giving things to friends on. Or moving data from one machine to another. More compatible than an RW, and cheap enough you don't mind throwing them away afterward.

to avoid sounding like a deranged noobie going OMGZORS OMGZOR l337 HAX on this forum, ill just simply state that, though im sure many others have, the crossflash method in fact DOES work. Only one question...is the LLS.dll included with the bootflasher package supposed to unclock LabelFlash in old nero versions? Supposedely, NERO7 LabelFlash is corrupt, as it scrambles the data and laser image from the burn.
