Cdfreaks previews the Benq DW 1670

Good reading-performance, writing-performance mixed (quality)

Looks like it have a Panasonic-chipset like the DQ 60

I've got the Sony version here. Haven't had time to do much with it yet though. Definitely not going to whip out a preview either. :roll:

It looks like Wes only got an engineering sample of the drive.... I'm holding out for the retail unit personally. I suspect it'll be ready in a few weeks though :D

But do u think the retail have another chipset?

not likely.
but i think what dolphin is saying is that (he thinks) the final product will perform better.

That could be. But the preview shows not much about writing-quality, only a few media was tested

I can't say that I'm a big fan of Panasonic chipsets. Let's hope that this drive is better than the DQ60.

They've had time to play with the chipset now at least... and I'll wait a firmware version or two before reviewing the higher speed media types as well.

That might be why his drive does DAE at only 24x. My Sony DRU-820A will rip audio CD's at 40x.
