You know who sucks? Ritek...

A little backstory first. About a year and a half ago I burnt my first DVD+R DL (Ritek brand and dye). I got it for free with a NewEgg order, so I thought I would burn a new movie I got to test my DVD players compatability with it. Well, the damn thing didn't even finish burning, as Nero reported it failed the lead-out procedure (this is with my 12x LG 120b). Seeing how the suckitude of Ritek's DVD+R DL media has permeated the entire optical media enthusiast scene, I promised myself from there on never to buy that shit again.

Fast forward to last week. I ran out of my usually superb Verbatim DVD+R DL (which burns decently with my BenQ 1640) so I decided to try some Fuji DVD+R DL from NewEgg since I was already getting a 19'' LCD. Fuji usually pics nice dye manufacturers so I thought it was a safe bet (I was too stingy to add some Verbatim instead... sticker shock from the LCD). First thing I do after I set my LCD up was check the dye manufacturer of the Fuji DVD+R DL. Ritek... DAMMIT!

Today. I decided to backup Jackass: The Movie for a friend of mine as a favor. My BenQ refuses to burn the disk at anything higher than 2.4x, which is odd since I'm able to toast Verbatim at 8x with this thing (not that I would do it at that speed anyway). The 45-freakin'-minute burn finishes this time to my utter surprise. Well, I put it through Nero CD/DVD speed and got the picture you see in the attachment...

My anger knows no bounds. HOW CAN RITEK GET AWAY WITH THIS? WHY CAN'T THEY MAKE MEDIA THAT CAN FREAKIN' PASS A SCAN??? AAARRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

It's really kind of pathetic that Fuji is using Ritek for DVD+R DL media. Fuji really has gone down the shitter as of late.

While all Ritek is crap, it seems your discs are especially crap. I would definately try and get Fuji to replace them, as they're clearly defective.

I'd say you were doing your friend a great favour burning that to a disc that was unreadable!

It's important that you contact fuji and get those discs replaced. The more Fujji has to replace defective Ritek media, the less likely they are to use Ritek as an OEM again.

It's a pain in the ass to replace media all the time... but the only other option is to let companies like Fuji keep getting away with selling crap, or to buy something better in quality consistantly (Verbatim).

Moral of the story:Nero and Ritek sucks for DL.
1.Use Verbatim DL media.
2.Sonic RecordNow(7 or 8 ),Prassi Ones or ImgBurn to burn DL.
