Using CD-DVD Speed with Pioneer 110D

The latest version of CD-DVD Speed works with my Pioneer 110D DVD writer to check disk quality. I have read in this and other forums that this writer is not a good one to check disk quality, but I had a question. Is this writer ONLY unreliable for use in testing various DVD writers, or is it also unreliable for testing the RELATIVE quality of media on my 110D. I would like to test certain media I am using relative to other media that I am using (e.g. does the Verbatim disks burned on my 110D have more errors than my TY disks burned on the 110D). For my purposes, it doesn't matter if the PIE/PIF figures reported are inaccurate by a factor 5 as long as they are wrong by a factor of 5 with all of the media.

This is probably confusing, but I hope you get the question.
