So CMC has taken the plunge into 4x DVD-RDL media eh? I can't say I'm completely surprised... although I *DO* feel sorry for CMC. For a company who is having financial trouble to decide to buy into a format that seems already close to death, it just seems like an accident waiting to happen. It's good news for Verbatim though, since now they'll be able to quit production themselves, and farm it off to someone else, and focus on a product actually worth making; namely DVD+RDL.

Well, at least they'll probably be more affordable. The quality can't be any worse than Ritek either.

I like to know:
Has anybody burned a movie on a any brand of these DVD-R DL discs and been able to play it on his standalone player ? I mean without having to try several ou buy a new one.
I saw that about around 80% of the DVD standalone players in use just do not recognize this DVD-R DL format with it's -R book type (book type that cannot be changed during the burn).

So the use of this format is restricted to computers and for DATA I prefer DVD-RAM

Hrm... I've had a hard enough time getting DVD *BURNERS* to play DVD-RDL media, yet alone stand alone players.
