Best Lite-On DVD Burner(s)?

Well, the DVDScan thread has made me interested (for the 1st time!) in a Lite-On DVD Burner.

I'm sure they don't have anything that can touch the BenQ 165x/1620 in burn quality, but what's closest?

Speed is secondary!

I was going to get the new 18x Samsung since it's burn quality looks to be greatly improved over the S162L I have (which is it self greatly improved over the 552!), but DVDScan is hard to resist.

I'd like to be able to scan discs with something other than my precious BenQs!

Lightscribe would be sorta nice...save a bit of wear-and-tear on my 1655...it's the only thing I don't like about the new 18x Samsung drive.

Or maybe I should just wait for Lite-On to release an 18x drive? It would seem that 18x burning needs a bit better quality from the drive to make usable results, which (at least in Samsungs case) seems to carry over to slower burning speeds as well (which is good...I wouldn't put any of my good MCC/TY media into a Samsung when I have the 1620/4167!)...

IMO, a drive from the 6S series is probably your best choice at the moment.

Thanks!

I hate their model numbering system...it's even more confusing then most...
