Asus DRW-1612BL with 12x DVD-RAM and LS

Hm, I wonder because LS. Most Asus are similar with Pioneer-drives which using a NEC-chipset, so they should have LF

Yeah, I posted something about the drive back in June. I never did find out if it was a Pioneer.

My gut feeling says that this isn't a Pioneer drive. You can kinda see the top of the drive in the link below. It sorta looks like an NEC or Sony NEC Optiarc drive.

NOt a Pioneer? Not nice :(

But the Asus have LS, how it can be an Optiarc?

I dunno. It was just a guess. For all we know, this is ASUS's own design. It wouldn't be the first time they did their own thing.

Here in germany it also isn´t not avaible ATM, Alternate wrote it comes this month
