Today we bring you a review of ASUS's latest "Super-Multi" drive, the DRW-1608P3S. Based on the Pioneer DVR-111, the drive is capable of 16x DVD±R, 8x DVD+RW, 6x DVD-RW, 8x DVD±R DL and 5x DVD-RAM writing speeds and has a maximum DVD read speed of 16x. The DRW-1608P3S also includes features like 40x CD reading and writing speeds, 32x rewriting speeds and support for technologies like FlextraLink and FlextraSpeed.

But I´m a bit disappointed with the scan-results of the Benq. Is the Benq so sensitive or the Liteon to unsensitive?

IMO.. both. In this case though, the jitter levels really aren't too obscene so what you see is what you get. Unless you're talking about the Optodisc DVD+R media. Those never seem to scan well on BenQ drives.

LoneWolf, they're essentially the same drive. If you're not comfortable hacking the firmware, I'd say that the Pioneer is probably better due to their more frequent updates. Otherwise, the ASUS is an excellent choice due to its price.

I can't say I'm impressed with the burn quality from this drive. I'm thinking you either got a not-so-great drive revision, or whatever firmware Asus is using isn't so great.

My BenQ scans my Acro Circle 16x DVD+Rs burned on my Pioneer DVR-111D quite well
