Okay, I hate to admit this, but...

...I like my new Lite-On drive.

The scan results using KProbe & CDSpeed 2000 jive with what my treasued BenQ 1620 show.

That means no more wear-and-tear on my best drive!

I can put it all on the Litey 8)

Haven't actually burned anything with it yet. But will soon :)

Why should you hate to admit it? The latest Lite-On drives, especially with HT, OHT, overspeed and SmartBurn have become quite decent drives. I would think at least on par with the Benq 1620, if not the 1640 in certain areas.

In general I agree  LiteON has came a very VERY far ways from their original LDW-401s, that's for sure!! :D

So far, I'm not to impressed with it as a burner. Quality seems sub-par with most of the media I've tried.

Not a problem, though. Didn't get it for burning

I still love my BenQs more :)

I have a drive based on Lite-On's new 18x writer. I have not installed it yet but the front and back of the drive look Lite-On-ish but the top of the drive looks like a BenQ. Very odd..

Isn't Hypertuning like BenQs Solidburn? Only really useful for "unknown" discs?

If not, I'll try it & see what happens :)

It's actually quite helpful for making even supported media burn much better. Just don't burn any double/dual layer media with it activated, otherwise it's an instant coaster
