Can't playback burned videos

I have two Liteon burners (SHM-165P6S) and recently burned some data to a dual layer disc (Verbatim DVD+R DL 8X). The data files (JPEGs, drivers, etc) are fine but whenever I try to play videos from the disc Windows Media Player locks and I have to close it (version 11). Sometimes it will play but it eventually just locks up.

Thinking that I burned the disc at too high-speed I made a copy of it this morning at 4X and still no luck with videos. I even copied one onto my desktop and it said WMP 11 cannot playback the file. I tried another video from a disc burned in an old Plextor drive and videos played great. I'm using Roxio EMC 9 with Windows XP Professional and Service Pack 2.
The drives work flawlessly with anything I throw at them (DVDs, CDs, etc). Do I have bad discs or have I missed something? Maybe I need to try different brand media? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Try playing the discs with some other media player.I personally use VLC Media Player. You can get it at www.videolan.org

If you can copy back the videos, then I think there is no problem with the drive.WMP might be the culprit here.
