With Plextor exiting the DVD Writer manufacturing market, their drives have become even more popular in Japan (for new in box items).

Here's a PX-760SA going for over $200 US.

  I think they should return because even selling very high priced drives, people seem to like wasting money on them #-o

Starting price for the auction is 29,800 yen (=$242.395) but the price the seller wants is at least 46,800 yen ($380.674) :o

It looks like Japan isn't the only country that values new in the box Plextors. This is a US ebay auction for a boxed 712A, and while it isn't nearly as expensive as those 760 drives on Yahoo! Japan Auctions, I am surprised to see a 712A hit almost $80 so early in the life of the auction.

Can get new plextor 712,716,750,755, all for less then 100 USD and the 760 for less then 150 USD. (Incase of buying 2 the price for a burner drops close to 100 USD !)

Maybe I should start my own Plextor store. :-D. I should be able to do shipping everywhere for less then 100 USD :-D

Also I can still get benq 1640,1650 models (crossflashing to benq firmware might be needed)

CE is where the action is at :)

That's why I picked one more PX-760 and one more DW-1650 from NL during the Easter this year.

Now if I could only find decent replacements for my ND-4550A and DVR-111L using something else except Mediatek chipset...

Only a few writers dont use Mediatek. LGs (Renesas or Panasonic), Pioneer/NEC (NEC), real Plextors (Sanyo), older Benq (Philips)

Yes, exactly why I bought an old BenQ and an old real Plextor.

I need chipset variance, not branding variance with my drives.

Having six different drives, all with the same chipset and most using same PUH, does not help with scanning.

Guess I better order a couple of Nexperia BenQs and Sanyo Plextors more for my stash :)
