Attached to the nVidia SATA controller on my DFI.
Logfile attached.
No problems with the PATA drives, the 111L and 1655. Media = MBI Pro CDRs, Sony D21 MIT.

Haven't been able to burn a single disc with this.. any ideas? OS = XP Pro and Vista Ultimate dual boot (erroring out on both), and standard MS IDE drivers for all channels.

I had a problem with my first DVR-212D... It would not burn any CD-R media, though it would burn DVD media types. I RMA'd the drive and got a new one. Turns out a lot of people have had issues with this drive and the 112 series. Over at CDFreaks there are several reports of it and they have an Australian Pioneer rep answering questions in the forum... I'd suggest you RMA it.

I currently have two of them; one in my Intel P965 rig, the other in my AMD nForce4 SLI rig. Both work fine.

What it the mfg date on the drive? The dud I had was from Dec 2006.

Mine is April 2007. Apparently, there is an issue with teh NF4 drivers. Trying to get in touch with Brad at CDF.. lessee..

I had no problems with nForce4 and these drives, having run them on an MSI K8N Neo 4 Platinum. OTOH, I had plenty of problems in AHCI mode with my Intel i975X board and Pioneer DVR-212D's; reading was fine, but writing was horrible. I'm back to IDE drives for now, since Intel support was worthless. To me, it seems that SATA optical support (at least on the Intel side) may still be a problem. I'll be putting my two 212D's up for sale soon.

EDIT: SithTracy, just got your PM. I'll be trying that option first. Hopefully it is available on the BadAxe2, and it will work.
