Need help picking the right burner for me.

I know you get these posts all the time but I could use some suggestions for the best burner for my requirements.

I'm looking for a CD/DVD/DL drive (black) that has Lightscribe and preferably uses SATA. While speed is nice I am much more interested in quality. Also I do NOT want a drive that sounds like a high speed table fan trying to keep me cool in the summer. I mainly use burners to either back up files or burn ISO's but I do make the odd music CD and game backup.

Thanks!

If the SH-S203N is anything like the SH-S203B, its probably your best choice at the moment.

I asked the same question in 2 places just to get a variety of opinions. The other place suggested that I get a LG GSA H62L.

What do you guys think?

Thanks!

I haven't used the GSA H62L myself, but I've heard good things about it as well.

I've got the LG GSA-H62N and the Samsung SH-S203B... While this particular LG does a good job with DVD burning, it sucks with CD-R (past LG's were excellent at CD-R).... Additionally, LG is not very good at providing firmware updates so I doubt the CD-R issue will be resolved in this drive... perhaps they will fix it in their next drive the H66N/L.

I'll suggest the Samsung too. But I've not seen a LightScribe model yet... but I'm just not interested even if it is available.

If I remember right, the GSA-H42N had similar CD-R writing issues that were never fixed.

The H62N/L is based off the same Renesas chipset as the IDE H42 & H44N/L drives...
