The 7203 have LF, so I guess these writers based on a NEC-chipset, niot on a Liteon-design

Nice, more drives with 12x DL writing speeds. Now we just need some media. #-o

Last I checked, it had not gone into mass production. Knowing how critical I am, they haven't been forthcoming with samples either.

Here in germany 8x DL-media is still rarely, but all users still recommend Verbatim 2,4x

Not to mention that hi-speed good quality DL media is still very expensive (comparatively), at least in EU.

I have a feeling it will never hit the rock bottom prices of SL media and will just be killed of by other recording formats in the next 5 years.

Yes, dual layer media is much more expensive than single layer. I don't see any future for triple layer HD-DVD media either.

Has anybody received their 7203 and checked what chipset it has?
