ASUS DRW-2014L1T won't play or burn DVDs
Posted: Wed Dec 19, 2007 12:36 amI have seemingly exhausted my options with getting this drive to work wtihin my system. It's my first SATA optical drive. It's recognized right away and plays and burns CD's without fail. However, DVD's are another story.
Each time, using Nero 7 Ultra it never surpasses at 3% complete using either Memorex or Ritek media. The result is always an Invalid Block Address message and it doesn't appear that the discs are being written to at all since, afterwards, they are still recognized by Nero Info Tool as blank media.
ImgBurn does the same but produces no message. Just stops progressing at 3%.
I have unistalled and reinstalled chipset drivers (Nvidia forceware 590 SLI). I have uninstalled Nero and removed all remnants of it using Nero General Cleaner. Reinstalled Nero Essentials 7 bundled with the drive (ASUS DO71 V7.5.14.4) and burning still never moves past 3% complete but instead of invalid block address message I get an "Illegal Disk" message.
In each instance the disc spins as if the burner is writing but eventually about half way through the time that's listed for the burn to complete, the disc stops spinning, and the activity light goes out.
In the properties dialog box under the recording tab, I have unchecked the enable desktop recording feature.
