Lite On SHW 160P6S and Memorex 8X DL won't burn
Posted: Thu Jan 03, 2008 11:55 pmI have no problem burning Memorex 2.4X DL discs with my Lite On SHW 160P6S burner and Nero Burning ROM 7. The firmware I am using is the PS0B version.
However, when I tried to burn Memorex 8X DL discs with the same burner and firmware version, they won't burn. So, I installed the latest firmware version from Lite On (PS0C) and tried again. This produced the same result; I can't burn Memorex 8X DL discs. I then tried to burn a 2.4X DL disc with the PS0C firmware and it worked fine.
Can anyone tell me what the problem is? The burn log showing failure to burn Memorex 8X DL discs is shown below.
(I also notice that when using the PS0C firmware, the log of activities on Nero Burning ROM includes the two following statements, just before the failure message is received:
Generating DVD high compatibility borders
Generating DVD borders completed successfully.
When I burn using the older PS0B firmware, these messages don't appear. I have no clue why this is so. Is this related to the problem?
