Are there any GOOD drives on the market these days?

A GOOD drive has, at least, the following features: http://www.plextor.be/products/px-755uf.asp?choice=PX-755UF.

I need all these:
- PIE/PIF/Jitter/Beta test capability.
- GigaRec support.
- AUTOSTRATEGY (or something similar).
- HDBURN support.
- DVD-RW DL and DVD+RW DL.

Plextor, why did you stop manufacturing DVD drives? [-X

Are there PIE/PIF/Jitter/Beta test capability in Blu-ray or HD-DVD drives? [-o<

This writer doesn´t exist

Plextor stopped manufacture drives, all newer Plextor are rebadged drive from Optiarc and Pioneer

And Plextor don´t support HDBurn, only Sanyo did it

Beta could imho not tested by any other drives than Plextor

Liteon have a similar thing like AS, i Guess it called OHT or something

BTW, where can u buy DL-RWs?

Ok. Thanks for the info.

I do not know exactly. Someone has told they already exists, but I have not seen a single review of DVD-RW DL or DVD+RW DL anywhere. If they do not come to market this year, they probably never will, because writable HD-DVDs and Blu-rays are becoming too cheap.

No drive contains all those features.

LiteOn 20A1 series drives can perform PIE/PIF/Jitter/TA-Jitter tests using Nero CD-DVD Speed, and they can perform PIE/PIF/Jitter/Beta tests using the unofficial DVDScan tool which is only an alpha/beta release. I would use CDSpeed for everything it can test and DVDScan for testing Beta.

There are significant differences in Beta values reported by LiteOn drives with DVDScan and Plextor drives with PlexTools/PxScan, and personally I trust the Plextor scans more.

LiteOn 20A4 series might be able to perform the same tests with a future version of Nero CD-DVD Speed (currently TA-Jitter testing is not supported). DVDScan may or may not work with this series - I'm not sure.

The 20A3 series can also do PIE/PIF/Jitter/TA-Jitter testing with the latest version of CD Speed.

Yes, I know on CeBit some manufacturers show DL RW, but it´s still nowhere to buy

And now it looks like the war between HD-DVD and BD is over, this could mean that more manufacturers will switch to BD than make a mass production of DVD DL RW
