What kind of motherboard do you have and what SATA controller do you have? What SATA burner do you have? More details needed.

That motherboard has an nForce4 SLI chipset. You shouldn't have any problems if you connect it to one of the SATA ports connected to the controller on the southbridge. You may run into problems if you use one of the SATA ports connected to the Silicon Image RAID controller though. Check the manual to see which is which.

Also, you shouldn't need any drivers for the drive. As long as the SATA controllers are recognized, it should work fine.

My wife and kids use my old A8N-SLI deluxe rig... the Samsung SH-S203B works on both the sil3114 and nforce SATA... I have one on the nforce sata at the moment. Works great... you may need a molex to sata power converter cable... not sure if your PSU has that or not... I suspect that is where you might be having issues.

Yes, my LG also works fine on a sil 3114, but my controller-card have a non-Raid-Bios

The nf4-chipsets should also work fine with SATA-ODD, but I´m not sure whether it do with AHCI
