Buying new DVD burners

I'm planning to buy 2 new SATA DVD burners next week. I don't need a good Dual-Layer burner because I never burn DL media. I normally burn Verbatim media (MCC04) and some cheap CMC media, and also some DVD+RW media.
So, I need a 2 different good burners with good writing quality on DVD+R/+RW and DVD-R media at 8x or 12x (at most), and at least one of them must be a good error scanner and also good media reader.
I thought these 2 would be a good choice

Pioneer DVR-215
LiteON LH-20A1S

What do you think? Should I buy those 2 or should I change the setup?

Sounds good to me (if you can still get the Pioneer DVR-215 which is no longer produced).

Yes, I can, here in Portugal I can't get the 216 model, only the 215

I'd also consider Samsung's 20x DVD writers, especially if you don't care about DL media.

So, I could buy a Samsung SH-S203P (it's the most common here) and the Pioneer DVR-215?

Ok, I've updated my choice

Pioneer DVR-216
Samsung SH-S203P

Again, my needs are the same. I need at least one reliable error scanner, don't burn DL media, don't need Lightscribe, need at least acceptable DVD+RW writing. Is my choice correct or should I change it?

I've dropped the LiteON because is not available anymore here.

I would still recommend a Liteon for scanning. Is an other Liteon avaible in your country?

With BenQ and Plextor out of the picture, Lite-On is really the only option for scanning these days. Kinda sucks actually, as their drives are too forgiving to be really accurate.

Might want to try getting a used BenQ of some flavor, like a 1640 or 1655. There seem to still be some on Ebay and maybe some new ones still coming outa China.
I still use my 1655 as a all around drive even though I have quite a few others to play with.

Well you have to be careful, a poster on CDFreaks got one real BenQ and a counterfeit one from one of the auctions for Chinese made drives. I guess they both work but one doesn't work with all the tools that Benq had for them.
Used ones that seem to work fine show up as well so maybe check their feedback and then take a chance if you feel comfortable with the seller.
