LG has released a bunch of new firmware for a number of its DVD writers and Blu-ray drives. The only real change I've seen is that they list support for Windows 7 and in a few cases improved readability. Due to the javascript on LG's website, I can't link directly to the files but if you click the links below, you'll find a list of firmware updates.

All of my drives work fine in windows 7, and I've updated a few with no issues as well. So far I've found that if something has a vista driver that will usually work fine if no 7 drivers are available.
I wish LG supported their older drives better, I have a few here I liked and updates have pretty much stopped for them.

It isn't just LG. Most companies stop releasing updates for their drives after about 12-18 months.

Yeah, BenQ used to be so proactive with their drives, constantly updating to make improvements, add features, all kinds of good stuff, then LiteOn bought em out, the updates soon stopped and they started selling their own drives as BenQ's and dropped the Nexperia chipset.
NEC was always slow about updates too, but their earlier drives tended to work excellent right outa the box so it wasn't that big of a deal to me.

If you read the reviews for the GH24NS50 at Newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductRe ... 6827136177), there are a lot of complaints about performance with Windows 7. I wonder if these firmware updates fix that problem with their older drives.
